SBS, a leading South African brand and market activation agency, has announced the launch of the new and innovative FanFair sports concept which is set to revolutionise events and promotions within the shopping centre industry.

Cape Town, South Africa (SBS) Month 1, 2009 – Leading brand and market activation agency SBS has announced the launch of an innovative new sport promotion concept which aims at tapping into the shopping centre industry with exciting events and promotions opportunities.

FanFair presents the opportunity to bring to life major international and national sporting events in a virtual environment within a shopping centre’s exhibition or event space.  Essentially, a replica sports stadium or arena is constructed to recreate the exciting atmosphere of a major sporting event.  Used as part of an integrated strategy, which can include, branding, sponsorships and competitions (to name but a few), FanFair produces captivating venues which result in a chain of enormous benefits to both the shopping centre and the customer.

However shoppers are not the only ones benefiting from FanFair.  With advantages such as increased dwell time, consumption and spending, top shopping centres are leaping at the concept.  Warren concludes, ‘the opportunities that FanFair presents are boundless and with the Soccer World Cup taking place in South Africa next year, SBS is really looking forward to accrediting FanFair as a great success.’ Shopping centres in South Africa make a substantial contribution to the overall retail economy.  The top fifty shopping centres nationally contribute an annual R150 million to the economy and represent 68% of total shopping centre spend.
